How is Bouffon different than Clown? The World laughs at the Clown, but the Bouffon laughs at the World!
Imagine a wild-eyed pack of outsiders. These outsiders have ecstatic pleasure to mock anything and everything. Ridiculous, mischievous, confronting and poetic, these tricksters ride the line between comic fun and uncomfortable truth.
In this class, students will discover the attitude and spirit of the Bouffon through:
- Ensemble play & Complicity
- Choral work
- Finding the fun in becoming and mocking
- Navigating rich thematic territories.
- Discovering hot spots that make the audience say “ouch!"Come join us. Fun, freedom and mischief await!

CLOWN 101 WITH FUNMI ADEJOBI
WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 7 AT 6PM-9PM

An energetic introduction to the fundamentals of contemporary clown with Funmi Adejobi.
Through games, improvisation and physical play, participants will explore what makes them uniquely funny, develop a stronger connection with the audience and discover how failure, vulnerability and pleasure can become powerful tools for performance.
Designed as an accessible introduction to clown, the workshop encourages participants to get out of their heads, follow their impulses, take ridiculous risks and discover the comedy already present in the room.
ABOUT FUNMI
Born and raised in new York city, Funmi Adejobi is a Nigerian-American clown and writer. She plays on stages all over NewYork solo and with her clown troupe, Lovely Day. She's studied with Tallie Medel, Carlo Jacucci and others, and has studied at école Philipe Gaulier, the Brooklyn Comedy Collective and the Pandemonium Studio. In January 2025 she debuted her first solo clown show, fish, directed by Chris Manley, which had a 21-show and 3-show run at Edinburgh Fringe and Philly fringe festival in 2025. With her work, Funmi mostly aims to have a silly goofy time.

CREATING & DESTROYING !! with Victoria Sepejak
SATURDAY OCTOBER 10 AT 10AM-1PM
The Auguste Roost, 250 Cumberland St, Rochester, NY, 14620
A clown / performance / writing / moving / laughing / loving workshop where we will devise, present, and rework. It’s time to have fun creating bits in record time, not be precious with our work, and trust our own unique sense of play. Get in your head, and THEN get the heck outta it! First part of the workshop is playing and getting into our bodies, the second part is devising and presenting. Learn how to make a fresh and new piece, and then BLOW IT ALL UP and try again.
All levels welcome. Come ready to copy, distort, commit, and play.
ABOUT VICTORIA
Victoria Watson Sepejak (they/them) is an award-winning, clown, comedian, and physical theatre artist based in Toronto, Canada. Their solo show, POEMS FOR GOD, directed by Canadian Comedy Award-Nominee Isaac Kessler (1-MAN NO-SHOW), first premiered in 2023 and has received multiple accolades, including “Best Solo Show - Comedy” (Orlando Fringe 2025) and “Best Solo Show” (Victoria Fringe 2023). They have done two full runs at Edinburgh Fringe, and multiple international tours with their solo and group clown work. When they are not touring, they work out of Toronto’s premier clown incubator, Sweet Action Theatre. Along with creating their new solo show, Victoria has recently started rollerskating again, which has been pretty cool.
