About the Class

Free to Attend!

Create new beginnings for 2026 with a one-off FREE workshop with Laura D’Amico. Using approachable and gentle improvisational tools gleaned from her Fulbright year working with artists from major European companies, emphasis will be placed on waking up the creative spirit which lives in all of us so we may stay inspired from within during this winter season.

About Laura

ARTIST BIO: Laura D’Amico is a multi-hyphenate performance artist with a formal background in STEM and agriculture. She is a 2023-2024 Fulbright Scholar, where she trained and performed for one year with the Anfibia Artist Program in Bologna, Italy, under the direction of Mattia Gandini, Martina La Ragione, and Carlo Massari. Using heightened sensitivity and vulnerability from her lived experiences, her work emphasizes blurring the lines between humans and the animal species with which we interact.

While in Italy, Laura has closely worked on her breadth of creation tools from originating artists from the Batsheva Company, Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Ultima Vez/Wim Vandekybus, Les Ballets C de la B, Compagnie Maguy Marin, Peeping Tom, C&C Company, Artemis Danza, and many freelance Italian dance artists.

Under various teachers both in Europe and North America, Laura has taken five Gaga Lab intensives, including learning directly from Ohad Naharin while in Italy, and regularly continues this movement research remotely online.

In the USA, she has studied under multiple intensives and workshops with Andrea Miller and the artists of GALLIM, as well as Garth Fagan Dance. She regularly works with Commotion Dance Theatre, and practices her skills at The Auguste Roost, both in Rochester, NY.
